The video was made for Rocksmith 2012. Rocksmith 2014 is available fro over a year now, and many of my viewers begged me to update the video for the newer Rocksmith. I ignored most of such comments, as I long lost any interest in playing the guitar in general, and Rocksmith in particular. The last thing we need is the no cable patch version. Rocksmith works with: • Any electric guitar or bass with a 1/4' output jack using the cable included in the box. • Any acoustic guitar or bass using a pickup with a 1/4' output jack or using a dedicated USB microphone (both not included).

I had the same problem yesterday trying to connect this cable. I looked at this thread for information and at the end it was still not working. Today I managed to solve the problem using a little USB port expansion. This device is a USB 2.0. My ports on my laptop are all 3.0. I plugged the cable in the USB 2.0 expansion module and it worked perfectly on the first try. So my bet would be don't use USB 3.0 and stick to 2.0...if you can!
