The final version of update 1.4 for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been released on the PC platform via the Steam digital distribution service, bringing a variety of changes and, most importantly. Bethesda has officially released The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's 1.9 update on Steam. The patch, previously only available in beta, adds a Legendary difficulty setting and allows players to reset. Long story short, I'm wondering if I can install the most recent patch without using Steam, so I can use a mod to increase FPS. The reason I'm trying to avoid Steam is because my gaming PC doesn't have internet - to get it connected I need to drag it out to the room with the modem, which is a pain.
So I finished building my computer and I got Steam on it by trying to install Skyrim. It gives me Steam but it says I have to have internet to continue. I'm pretty sure that I don't need online mode to install the game. I want to log in offline or just be in Steam but how do I do it? I don't have internet on my computer yet.

You can't log into Steam in Offline Mode without first being online. Step 1 of Valve's official docs for offline mode state that you should 'Start Steam online.'
Additionally, it's not possible to install games without being online in Steam.
Further, with most Steam games installing using the discs is a painful process as Steam tends to like to download the full game from Steam servers even if the disc is present.
Thus, even though you may have the discs for a game, if it requires Steam, you will need an internet connection in order to install it.

Does anyone know where u actually download teh skyrim patches ?????? every site in google says that the patch is out but has no link to download it even on teh official elder scrolls site there are no patches for skyrim available to downloadSkyrim Nexus
The only legal place to get the patches is through steam. Anyone asking for torrented patches has stolen the game - shame on you.
And as this site does not support pirates, they will be automatically banned for asking for illegal sources, or for providing those illegal sources to pirates.
