TL;DR: What version do you recommend, what emulator would you play it on, and what ROM hacks do you suggest?
Healing With Music And Color
I'm looking to play the classic FF6 for the first time. I've done a little research and it looks like there is no definitive best version of the game (thanks Square). The SNES original has translation problems and multiple bugs. The playstation one has serious load time issues. The GBA one has an over-brightened color pallet, performance issues, and lower quality music in a game with a famous opera scene. All other official releases are based on one of these 3 and carry through the same problems, except for the PC/mobile one but have you seen those 'updated' sprites, such an ugly disservice.
But we are not powerless; we have emulators and ROM hacks. I've taken a looks at some of them and it seems possible to fix the major problems. I can use this translation update + bugfix patch on the SNES version to fix its issues. Or I can use this sound restoration and performance patch with this color restoration patch on the GBA version to fix most of its problems.
I'm planning to play the game on my modern gaming pc with a modern 1440p monitor and modern controller. What version do you recommend and what emulator would you play it on?
